About Us
The Healing through Education and Art for Resiliency Teaching (HEART) project seeks to improve well-being and school success of elementary students living on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana, USA. It is a classroom-level intervention designed to reduce health and education disparities among the community’s youth.
This project builds upon community members’ suggestions to create a program that improves health and well-being among young people living on the reservation and in rural Montana, USA. Our professionals provide one-on-one coaching that combines observation, meaningful dialogue, and actionable feedback to help teachers create learner-focused classrooms. Simultaneously, students participate in whole-group activities centered around art, mindfulness, and nutrition to encourage healthy practices.
HEART is designed to foster elementary-aged students’ resilience through self-expression in the classroom.
