The Educator Experience

Educators and school leaders participate in monthly development opportunities focused on building and sustaining student-focused classroom environments. Each time educators meet with the HEART Project they participate in a series of activities that include:
-Classroom Observations using the CLASS Assessment (Pianta, et al.,2008)

- Individual Teacher Mentoring

- Collaborative Team Coaching

- Culturally responsive pedagogy and trauma-informed teaching practices

- Review of student work

- Educator Interviews

Classroom Observations

Change starts in the classroom, which is where you will find us. We meet educators where they are and start to build from there. Using the CLASS observation tool, teachers get a 360 degree view of their classroom culture and climate.

Coaching and Mentoring

Educators receive one-on-one coaching based on the feedback from their individual CLASS observations each month. Additionally, teams participate in mentoring sessions focused on their goals, student work, and school initiatives.

 Culturally Responsive Materials

The HEART Project puts educators back into the learning seat. Using culturally responsive texts and materials, educators gain the tools needed to build culturally competent classrooms. Each month, educators participate in a book study, review of student work, current trends in education,  and collaborative conversation focused on trauma-informed practices.
